A New Year, A New Chapter: What's Your Story for 2025?

The winter solstice happened just weeks ago: we released the dark and celebrated the coming of the light (you can watch our Winter Solstice Workshop here). During this transformative time we can let go of what no longer serves us and welcome what will grow and blossom in the warmer, brighter days ahead.

The start of a New Year always gives me the feeling that anything is possible. It’s a fresh start and an ideal time to focus on the coming year and the changes you want to make in your life. My goal is to approach each day with purpose. To make my time more meaningful, joyful and focused. To make the most of my days rather than just reacting to events and getting pulled in so many different directions.

I like to think of the coming year as a book with 12 chapters, which is an easy way to break things down into smaller, more manageable pieces. During the holidays, I spent an afternoon with my journal and thought more about how I wanted to write those chapters. (It’s possible that a glass of wine, a comfy chair and a fireplace were also part of this process.)

Here are some of the words and ideas that will guide me in January, my first chapter of 2025:

Be Intentional with My Intake

This commitment feels so good! Beans for breakfast. Sparkly water in a wine glass at night. Even after just a few days of intentional eating my mind is clearer and my body feels better. I was worried about doing a cleanse and Dry January at the same time, but it’s been easy and rewarding. And my naturopath said some dark chocolate is okay, so I still get to have a treat now and then. Woo-hoo!

Protect My Time

Like many women, I’m a people pleaser. This means I’m wired to say “yes, ” which can lead to being over-committed, over-scheduled and overwhelmed. While I usually enjoy the rush of being busy, this also prevents me from finding the time to commit to personal projects. I’m embracing the power of “no”—so that I can protect my time and focus on what’s important to me.

Promote Positivity

Negativity filled the house I grew up in and sometimes it still regularly seeps into my mindset. I’m trying to be more aware of negative thinking and self-talk and do all I can to love with a mindset of positivity, possibility and power. To me, mindset is everything. Positivity fuels me and I’m now asking the question: if I live in positivity more often, what positive things will come my way?

What will the first chapter of your 12-chapter book be? What goals will you set? What adventures will you have? What will be the unexpected plot twist? Sit with this book. Give it life. Make it yours. Write your story!

All the best,
