Love, Sex & Intimacy After 40: Your Best Years are Ahead
I recently read an article in the New York Times called Why Gen X Women Are Having the Best Sex. It’s an intimate personal essay that will likely resonate with many women, regardless of age.
Looking back on my 40s, I’m amazed at how little I knew about some of the changes I was experiencing. I had no idea about peri-menopause and its effect on my body. Constantly awaking at 2 am, I would go into the office foggy, exhausted and terrified that I would feel like this the rest of my life. The new spare tire around my belly just wouldn’t go away regardless of how many times I went for a run or hit the gym. What the hell were my hormones doing to me?
At that time, my friends and I really didn’t talk about what we were experiencing. Then one day a friend of mine opened up about how she was really feeling and confessed that for her, sex was “like having chards of glass up there.” It was such a relief to know that I wasn’t alone and that others were experiencing the same things I was—and wanted to talk about it.
Fast forward to today. Menopause and sex are a hot topic. Why? Because many of us are coming into mid-life, asking how to address hormone changes and, most importantly, asking for solutions.
That’s why I’ve invited relationship coach Shana James and Naturopathic Physician Dr. Alisha Ghajar to join us to discuss intimacy, connection and navigating your body’s transformation during midlife. Whether you’re single, dating, or in a long-term relationship, this is your chance to embrace a new chapter of love that’s more fulfilling than ever.
They'll also discuss topics like HRT (hormone replacement therapy), nutrition’s impact on our bodies, whether apps like OMGYES can help your sex life, and so much more.
You can sign up here for the event.
All my best,
