Mid-Year Creative Revival
I'm busy. Joyfully, wildly and sometimes overwhelmingly busy.
As an entrepreneur, partner, friend, mom to furry family members, and auntie to many, I am regularly pulled in every direction at once. Do you ever stand at the center of it all wondering which way to go? I do!
And here's the other thing: I get excited about everything. Saying no is hard when so much genuinely lights me up. Which means my creative life, that part of me that craves making, exploring and being fully present, is often the first thing to slip off the list. Earlier this year, I made a vow. I committed to myself. And I want to know, do you want to join me for the next six months?
"Creative pursuits can be the most fulfilling part of our lives and it is never too late to begin again." - Julia Cameron, It's Never Too Late to Begin Again
Julia Cameron's words above are so true. Creativity takes me somewhere else entirely. Honestly fully away, into what feels like another dimension where time disappears and I come back to my true self.
Things that fill my cup: creativity of all kinds, dancing (always dancing), nurturing my cutting garden, quality time with friends, and more.
Here's what I actually did in the first five months of this year:
I designed the entire interior of our new ADU, from vision to reality.
I started three of my favorite flowers from seed: zinnias, sunflowers, and snapdragons.
I took two ceramics classes and made a vase and a small floral wall hanging (nearly everything I do involves flowers!)
I joined an open art class with a dear friend.
And I took a tile painting class plus two cooking classes in Portugal.
And guess what? When I did all of these things, I felt so much joy! I felt fully alive. So alive!
What will you make, explore, learn, or finally try? Pick one creative thing you've been putting off and do it. Share your creative moments with us on Instagram under the hashtag #RevelRevival and let's witness each other's commitment to ourselves.
What will you take on? I hope you'll share. There is something so powerful about owning it and sharing in community that makes it very real. Your creative spirit is waiting.
With so much love and a pair of very dirty gardening gloves.
Here's to making something beautiful.
