Upset is Optional: Say Goodbye to Unnecessary Suffering
May 2024, Online
Can getting upset really be optional? We had a great online event with author Karen Howard to better understand the connection between the language we use and the physical response these words have to our health and relationships.
Karen is the best-selling author of Upset Is Optional – Say Goodbye to Unnecessary Suffering and she will share with us some practices that are not complicated, easy to do and can reframe our thoughts, our happiness and our relationships.
About Karen Howard: Karen, an advocate at heart, is originally from Springfield, Missouri. She has now lived in Washington, DC for more than forty-years, working as a Congressional Committee staff, lobbying for health care issues, and working for various professional and trade associations. Life changed dramatically for Karen in 2001, after 9/11. Her mid-west sensible worldview was deeply shaken. She needed to be more, give more and live more meaningfully. A new journey began and led her to Tai Sophia, the first accredited acupuncture school in the U.S., and its founder, Bob Duggan.
Karen’s pursuit in the school’s Applied Healing Arts program was transformative. Bob’s last gift was to hone his work into a series of simple practices in an apprentice program. Each practice is centered on understanding that how you feel in your body will impact your thoughts, actions, and health. Bob taught Karen how to breathe and changed her life.

In this workshop, we will be expanding on the concepts we discussed in Chakras 101 (Check it out on Youtube if you missed it!). In Chakras 201, we will be connecting with our magical Chakra systems and identify which chakras feel out of balance and why. Manjeet will intuitively connect you to your chakras for participants who are looking for very specific direction and clarity to align and heal energetically.
Chakra in Sanskrit means ‘wheel’ or ‘Cycle’. There are 7 of these Chakras within our bodies that integrate our mind, body and Spirit in powerful ways that support our physical, emotional and spiritual growth. Manjeer believes that when these powerful energy centers are blocked, we feel stuck and confused - and when these energy centers are expanded and spinning, we feel balanced and energized.
About Manjeet: As an intuitive coach of more than 20 years specializing in one-on-one coaching, corporate coaching, intuitive vision boarding, and chakra coaching, my mission has been to help busy women embrace lives that are clear, balanced, and purposeful.

The Hidden Power of the Highly Sensitive Person
May 2023, Online
Everyone has a sensitive side, but nearly 1 in 3 people have the genes to be more sensitive than others—both physically and emotionally.
These are the people who pause before speaking and think before acting; they tune into subtle details and make connections that others miss. They tend to be intelligent, big-hearted, and wonderfully creative; they are wired to go deep, yet society tells them to hide the very sensitivity that makes them this way. Does this resonate?
Since embracing her own introversion and sensitivity, Jenn Granneman, founder of Introvert, Dear has helped others unlock the potential in this undervalued strength and leverage it across the most important areas of our lives: relationships, the workplace, leadership, and parenting.
Jenn is the co-author of SENSITIVE and the author of THE SECRET LIVES OF INTROVERTS.

Whatever chapter of life you are in or entering, you may be confronting life’s biggest questions – join us and Dr. Lisa Miller to discover how spirituality and the brain can both protect and heal us from depression, anxiety, craving, loneliness, and trauma. Through 20 years of lab research, clinical stories, exercises, and her own personal journey through depression and infertility, author of “The Awakened Brain”, Dr. Miller, joins us to illuminate the science of spirituality.
Dr. Miller reveals that each of us has the innate ability to change our mindset and navigate a more open, loving world—one in which we are more connected, more altruistic, more innovative, enjoy stronger relationships, and see opportunity in everything. We will learn that:
Depression and spiritual development share a common physiology.
There exist two modes of awareness, and a healthy brain needs both.
Spirituality is something everyone has, not just people who ascribe to a religion.
The awakened brain builds much like a “muscle.”

Modern Love: Strategies for Greater Connection + Intimacy
April 2021, Online
Making relationships work in the context of modern life isn’t easy. In addition to the stay-at-home reality of COVID-19 and the dizzying pace of life, today’s couples are faced with an unprecedented relationship challenge: how can you strive for equality without destroying connection and intimacy?
In this conversation, Kaley Klemp will share the insights from her new book, The 80/80 Marriage. After interviewing over one hundred people, she learned that our go-to strategy of achieving equality in partnerships by making everything 50/50 fair fails to deliver on its promise. Instead, it results in tension, resentment, and often an even greater sense of inequality.
To address the unique challenge faced by this new generation of couples, they outline a new model of relationships: The 80/80 Marriage. It’s a model based on a shift in mindset, from fairness to radical generosity, and a shift in structure, from asking “What’s best for me?” to asking “What’s best for us?” An 80/80 marriage offers a path to being equals while also being in love.

Playing with Privilege: Entitlement Unleashed

What do we consider to be universal entitlements? Should we all have the right to practice our religion and cultural heritage freely? How do you react when someones perceived entitlements seem to encroach upon your personal space and individual rights? Who decides who gets to be entitled, and to what degree?
Using The Work of Byron Katie, we will explore how we came to acknowledge our privilege or the lack thereof. Is our sense of privilege derived from a childhood where we were taught we were at the center of the universe? There are no apologies needed, and we are not asking for correctness. We are aiming for increased awareness of our privilege and an opportunity to do our part to engage intentionally in our evolving world.
Danielle Morvan and Edie Thomajan are Certified Facilitators of The Work of Byron Katie.

Summer of Self-Love: Silent Listening
June 2020, Online
At the core of deep and effective listening is the practice of holding silent space for another to share openly, allowing them to follow their own inner map. In order to hold silent space, we quiet our minds, become present, and resist our habitual communication impulses.
In this session, we will learn techniques for becoming present, practice holding silent space for another, and hopefully discover our often unconscious impulses that inhibit one another sharing fully. We will also experience how powerful it is to be heard by someone who is holding that space for us.
Marcia McReynolds, AKA “The Listening Lady,” has been exploring and teaching the art of listening for the past 25 years. She is a mediator, facilitator, educator and improvisor whose personal mission is to spread the seeds of deep listening “from the inside-out” to as many people as possible.
Summer of Self-Love: Practical Tools to help you stay safe, sane & strong!
June 2020, Online
Our emotions are psychological (bodily) responses to internal (e.g. thoughts) and external (e.g. social media) stimuli. These responses are there for a reason. They give you data to make informed decisions, so you can take action crucial to your survival.
Take it a step further. You can train your brain to interpret the stimuli that are bombarding your senses as cues—vs. threats—and train your mind to make more empowering decisions; so you can go beyond merely surviving, and actually thrive.
This session is led by TΛY & VΛL, co-Founders of M MEDITATION, a mental strength x emotional resilience consultancy, specializing in creating mindfulness-based workshops, training, and experiences that are contextual, useful, and immediately applicable in the modern world.

How do we do this? How do we begin? Marci McReynolds will guide us in some first steps.
Marci McReynolds, AKA “The Listening Lady,” has been exploring and teaching the art of listening for the past 25 years.
