A Summer Evening in Three Seattle Gardens

Join three gardenmakers for an evening walk through their gardens -- each with a unique inspiration and flare. Wine and apps will be served!

Each garden is just a short drive from each other, so we'll start the evening in Gillian Mathews' small urban garden with some bites and sparkling wine. Gillian is the founder of Ravenna Gardens at University Village and recently planted her lush garden in the hardscape design by Richard Hartlage of Land Morphology.

Next, we will venture to the garden of Lisa Bauer, owner of Chartreuse Landscape Design. Lisa is a certified landscape designer whose philosophy is that the best gardens are designed as dynamic works of art. Through this endeavor, she hopes to bring her garden-goers into a closer relationship with nature.

Our tour will end with wine and heavy apps at the Tuscany-inspired garden of Sue Tong in the Inverness neighborhood. Sue thinks of her garden as a healing space for her, family and friends.

Don't miss this intimate evening on July 26th to be immersed in beautiful, unique gardens and enjoy sips and bites with the RevelEleven crew.

About Gillian: Gillian Mathews was born in Yorkshire, England and followed her sister and brother-in-law to Seattle at the age of 19. A lifelong gardener, inspired by her father, Gillian put her interests together when she opened Ravenna Gardens, from which she recently retired, over 20 years ago. She currently serves on the board of the NW Horticultural Society and arranges garden tours for their members.

About Lisa: Lisa Bauer is a landscape designer based out of Seattle, Washington where she earned her degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design from Edmonds College in 2012. She is a certified professional horticulturist through the Washington State Nursery & Landscape Association and is a certified landscape designer through the Association for Professional Landscape Designers of Washington. She has won awards at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show and her work has been published in the Seattle Times Pacific Magazine, and in Garden Gate Magazine.

About Sue: A Seattle native, Sue began her garden career weeding in her parents' garden. As a textiles major, gardening was easily transferable to the garden. Moving to this home after a trip to Tuscany, Sue was inspired by the rolling hill behind her home to recreate a Mediterranean garden. After many years owning an insurance agency the garden was a welcome place to de-stress. Traveling to gardens around the globe has continued to feed her love of horticulture and textural plantings.
