About Robin Shapiro: Robin Shapiro is a health communications entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience. She is currently Board Chair and co-founder HealthAdvocateX, a national nonprofit whose mission is to help people transform from patient to active participant and partner in their care. She is a nationally recognized pioneer in the Health Advocacy movement. Her book, The Secret Language of Healthcare: How to Ask for the Care You Deserve, was published October 2019 based on her experiences working in health advocacy. She has been recognized by Seattle Business Magazine as a "Woman to Watch," and was a 2012 finalist in WBO’s Nellie Cashman Women Business Owner of the Year. Ms. Shapiro was selected as a 40 Under 40 Honoree by the Puget Sound Business Journal.
About Terese Clark RN: Terese has spent over 35 years in healthcare, working as a nurse, consultant, and patient advocate. After practicing for over a decade at Harborview Hospital, Ms. Clark combined her medical expertise and business acumen to form Nurses2Go, a medical consulting firm. Terese has lectured at John Hopkins University, Seattle University, National Investment Center and the American Senior Housing Association conferences. She is passionate about educating individuals how to better navigate the complexities of the healthcare industry and gain greater control over decisions affecting their health.
