Planning for End of Life: It Matters

Why don’t we plan for the end of life? No one wants to talk about death – in fact, 90% of the population doesn’t. But when an unexpected health crisis is suddenly cast upon us (or our loved ones), we end up in a doctor’s office or an emergency room having to make decisions that no one is prepared for. Most people don’t even consider planning until their 70s.

Wendy Norman is an end-of-life consultant who joins us on March 16 to give us a holistic view of end-of-life choices and how we can have autonomy over our final days, at any age, under any scenario. She will cover all of the end-of-life choices to be considered – what medical providers and those closest to you need to know and what documents you need to have in place to ensure your end-of-life wishes will be honored.

Following this event, there will be a series of three 10-person workshops with Wendy and additional end-of-life consultants who will help participants model and work through their end-of-life plans. See you on March 16th!

About Wendy: Through her own personal experience with friends and family that did not receive adequate and holistic options to have autonomy over their death, Wendy Norman has become an advocate for broader education and awareness around end-of-life choice. Wendy has spent the past two years with End of Life Washington to develop and launch an awareness campaign called End of Life Ready. The campaign offers free education about end-of-life choice and how to plan ahead to achieve autonomy over one's death. Prior to volunteering her time around end-of-life issues, Wendy was a marketing manager and program lead at Microsoft.
