Summer of Self-Love: Silent Listening

Marcia McReynolds brings us another session about deep and effective listening practices and make sure we hold space for those not heard.

At the core of deep and effective listening is the practice of holding silent space for another to share openly, allowing them to follow their own inner map. In order to hold silent space, we quiet our minds, become present, and resist our habitual communication impulses.

In this session, we will learn techniques for becoming present, practice holding silent space for another, and hopefully discover our often unconscious impulses that inhibit one another sharing fully. We will also experience how powerful it is to be heard by someone who is holding that space for us.

Marcia McReynolds, AKA “The Listening Lady,” has been exploring and teaching the art of listening for the past 25 years. She is a mediator, facilitator, educator and improvisor whose personal mission is to spread the seeds of deep listening “from the inside-out” to as many people as possible, believing that listening is at the core of all social, spiritual and personal evolution. She currently manages the City of Bellevue Conflict Resolution Center. She is the author of The Listening Cards, an Eloquent Primer in the Art of Listening.
