You Are the Cartographer of Your Own Life
I was recently listening to an interview with Brene Brown who said, “we are the mapmakers of our own life.”
Whoa, this is so true. Imagine being the cartographer of your life. Making a map outlining your life for the next couple of months. Or years. Not just deciding on your destination, but listing the roads you would need to take, the mountains you would have to climb, to get there. And a timetable for your journey.
We all have the power to do create a life map like this—but very few us do.
I discovered mapping—and manifesting—when I was a teenager. When I was 13—with big hair and big dreams—I wanted, more than anything, to be a TV journalist like my hero Barbara Walters. Whenever I would ride the Seattle Monorail, I would stand on West side of the train as we glided past KOMO-TV, the local ABC affiliate, and whisper to myself, “I’m going to work there someday.”
I told myself this so many times that I started to believe it might be possible. And eventually, I knew it would happen. And by the time I turned 17, I had a job there. I worked there for four great years. All because I followed the map I created in my head.
So, always remember: Your map will take you wherever you want to go…
