Saying Yes to Yourself

I was inspired by Maria Shriver’s column recently about taking advantage of every single day. Of not waiting for special moments to say “YES” to our desires. She asks: “Are you thinking about your wildly authentic life? Are you living out loud? Are you doing what makes you feel fulfilled? Are you feeling joyful, or are you bogged down by all the things you think you should or have to do?”

Her questions really resonated with me—and I expect they do for you as well. It’s so easy to get weighed down with expectations, obligations and all the things that the world says we should do. We often fall into the habit of waiting for those “special moments” to embrace our passions and seize opportunities, yet it leaves us overlooking the beauty and joy of everyday life.

By saying “YES” to new experiences, passions, or desires, whether big or small, we infuse every moment with meaning, purpose, and awe. Maria’s words serve as a reminder that life isn’t about going through the motions- it’s about embracing our authenticity and pursuing what truly brings us joy.

We owe it to ourselves to live boldly, to say “YES”, and to prioritize our happiness above all else. So, consider this your reminder that life is beautiful and it’s right in front of us, let this be your invitation to say “YES” to life and all it has to offer.
