Be Bold: Empowering Women to Make a Change

Last night our team attended Seattle’s 9th annual Be Bold Now event, hosted by Be Bold for Change. Sitting in a room full of inspiring and courageous women leaders and entrepreneurs, from all ages and backgrounds, we felt so empowered to make a change. We saw first-hand the importance of supporting women and the positive impact it has on not just our community, but around the world.

Whether it’s shopping at women-owned businesses, getting a coffee with your local or state representatives, or donating to women’s organizations, there’s ways for each and every one of us to be bold and make a change.

Here were some of our key-takeaways from the night, that might just inspire you to be the change you want to see:

Shop and invest in women-owned businesses: Support these businesses by spreading the word and telling your friends about them, writing them great reviews, and attending any event they may have.

Hire women: Consider the importance of hiring women and the amazing talent and perspective they can offer your business. Mentor them, guide them, and empower them to be bold.

If there’s no seat at the table, bring one: Don’t wait for an invitation, pull up a chair with all that you bring to the table, and make space in the conversation.

Time, Treasure, and Talent: Those were the three words we heard many times last night and left a lasting impression on us. Whether you have one or all three, these are key ways you can help contribute to supporting girls and women in your community.

Vote Vote Vote:  A major key to closing the gender pay gap is through our house and senate representatives. Take time to research your representatives and schedule some time to sit down with them over coffee. Tell them about the change you want to see in your community, and don’t forget to VOTE!
