Embracing CHANGE as a Superpower (In-Person)

  • 2655 Northwest Market Street Seattle, WA, 98107 United States (map)

Finding joy in times of transition and EMBRACING CHANGE as our superpower is the theme for our June in-person event. Join us for a powerful conversation with Monica Huntsberry (Writer, Speaker and RevelEleven Advisor), Donna Moodie (Marjorie Restaurant/Community Roots Housing) and Petra Hilleberg (Hilleberg the Tentmaker) in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.

Monica Huntsberry left her 25-year corporate career and began to pursue a creative journey focused on the topic of leaving. She’ll talk about her conversations with more than 50 women about their experiences in making a change.

Donna will share insights on how she manifests and embraces change, including making a big decision to close her iconic Seattle restaurant Marjorie’s and open up in a new location, step into a new career, and leverage her experience in creating community on a broader scale.

Petra will talk about the importance of accessing nature as a touchstone in times of transition. Petra will focus on ways to re-energize in the outdoors and how we make personal discoveries and find courage during times of change.

Appetizers and wine will be served.

Monica Huntsberry - After exiting her 25-year corporate career, Monica began to pursue a creative journey focused on the topic of leaving. She has interviewed more than 50 women about their experiences in making a change, including women who left professional careers to pursue a different calling. She now writes, speaks, and mentors on the topic of leaving and embracing change. She is also an advisor and event host for RevelEleven.

Donna Moodie – Donna is a well-known Seattle restauranteur, owning Marjorie Restaurant for the last 14 years. She’s also VP of Community Roots Housing. Donna is embraces changes and annually, around the new year, approaches it as an opportunity to look at life with a 180 perspective of her life. Donna also created the much-loved Miss Marjorie’s Steel Drum Plantains which is currently going through its own evolution to be launched nationally within the next year.

Petra Hilleberg – Petra is CEO of Hilleberg the Tentmaker and Honorary Consulate of Sweden. Growing up in northern Sweden and alongside the eponymous family company her parents started 51 years ago gave her both a big passion for the outdoors and a fascination for business, she started the US side of the business two days after she graduated from Seattle University in 2000. Petra retreated to nature, rode horses and literally hugged trees during the pandemic and revels in the ideals of Friluftsliv (pronounced free-loofts-liv) - taking time to connect with nature, to breathe in fresh air and to appreciate the simplicity of the outdoors.

The event will be hosted in the National Nordic Museum, beautifully designed by local architecture firm Mithun and opened in 2018 in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. The Museum’s achievements were acknowledged in 2019 with the Museum was designated as the National Nordic Museum by an act of Congress. In building embodies Nordic design and functions both as museum and community gathering place.
