Motherhood: A Portal for Celebration, Healing and Transformation

Motherhood is full of joy and pain, celebration and grief, holding on tight and being able to let go. How do we move through these transitions in a way that honors our real, often untold experience?

Magdalena Garcia has worked with children and families as an educator and school leader in various settings, from large inner city public schools to a small non-profit elementary school she co-founded. She believes that when we as mothers give ourselves permission to celebrate fiercely and grieve fully, we experience a level of transformational personal development.

In this Parenting Series event, Magdalena will help us with strategies to cross thresholds that present themselves as we grow up with our children. She will tell us:

  • How to see the transitions we experience as mothers as a profound personal development opportunity

  • How to deepen traditional celebrations as an opportunity for true healing and joy

  • What the tools are for a robust celebration and grief practice

  • How to gather support for crossing a threshold in either yours or your child’s life

  • How to support your child’s expression of joy and grief

About Magdalena Garcia: Magdalena is a mother, storyteller, educator, creator and ceremony leader. For the last 25 years, she has led families through a trauma-informed, social justice approach that puts respectful, deep listening of the heart, mind and body at the core. Understanding the unique power of ceremony for healing, she creates opportunities for embodied storytelling with adults and children as they navigate the big and small thresholds (milestones or transitions) of their lives.
