Revel Voices: Karen Walrond

Ask Karen Walrond what she does, and the list is seemingly endless. She is an author, lawyer, leadership coach, a photographer, an activist, a lightmaker, and of late, a radiant rebel.

We spoke with Karen about a year ago, after her second book was published, The Lightmaker’s Manifesto How to Work for Change without Losing Your Joy. We spoke about her journey towards being an activist, and how we can work to make a difference in our world, without losing our spark and enthusiasm. You can watch the entire interview here

Karen has written another book, due to be released this year, Radiant Rebellion Reclaim Aging, Practice Joy, and Raise a Little Hell, taking a look at rebelling against the idea that aging is a season of decline, and raising some hell along the way. It’s due to be released in October and currently available for pre-orders! We can’t wait to read this one, and hope Karen will be back to discuss it with the RevelEleven Community!

As part of a series of Revel Voices we recently asked Karen to answer a few light-hearted questions so we could get to know her just a little better.

RevelEleven: What is your guilty pleasure?

Karen: A single piece of very dark chocolate.  I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but a small piece of dark chocolate always feels decadent.

RevelEleven: What’s one thing that can make your day instantly better?

Karen:I'm as surprised as anyone that I'm saying this, but movement.  I'm not athletic, and I've historically hated exercise, but I'm learning that when I'm in my head too much, moving -- walking, hula hooping, jump roping, whatever -- can always improve my mood.

RevelEleven: If you could master one new skill, what would it be?

Karen: I would be an amazing dancer.

RevelEleven: What’s your favorite place on Earth?

Karen: Tobago, West Indies.  Trinidad & Tobago is home for me, and the beach -- particularly in Tobago -- is where I exhale.

Thank you, Karen, for being part of our RevelEleven community.
